Poe[hec]tic

A man wakes up on the floor in the study of a big mansion.

Quite disoriented, he attempts to remember where he is and who he is, but to no avail.

Through reminiscence, deep thought and flashbacks, his situation becomes clear to him. He shares these memories and incidents with the audience, until a final, shocking revelation makes it clear who he is and the reason for his amnesia.

Short stories by Edgar Allan Poe are interwoven in this one-act play, which can easily be comprehended due to the fact that the spoken word is in easy English.

The stories are, at times, mixed up with one another or otherwise adapted.

The audience will experience some horror, mayhem, humour and sadness, all mixed up in an hour of unforgettable Poe stories.

The play also keeps modern times in mind, so, do not be surprised if there are quotations of nowadays, although still fitting perfectly in the story and always true to Poe's style.

The production is accompanied by an informational study guide that teachers/lecturers can use in class. A hard copy will be provided at the showcase of the play to have a look at its contents. Should a school/educational institution wish to acquire this production, the study guide will be provided digitally to the school.
